Job Description Summary

The Informatics team within BD Biosciences is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer – Software Quality and Test Automation to help drive testing for multiple products. We are looking for someone with very strong technical experience and domain knowledge, experience in problem solving, strong passion, interest and quick learning abilities, someone who’s detail oriented with an initiative to drive tasks to completion, someone with a bias for action with accountability for results. He/she will be helping us improve the quality of the software solutions that we are providing. This will involve working with a diverse group of software testers in achieving testing goals for our products, continuously improving our testing framework, bringing best practices, tools, capabilities and ideas from outside into the organization, refining and managing a suite of automated regression and performance tests, end-to-end testing.

Essential Job Functions

• Drive improvements in our automated testing framework and application lifecycle management toolchain.

• Build, refine and manage a suite of automated regression and performance tests.

• Create and review quality system documents, protocols, process and product validations, and test methods.

• Design and perform Integration tests for compatible applications

• Provide support for quality objectives and process improvement efforts.

• Perform general quality control and assurance tasks, support product testing and releases as needed.

• Create and maintain documentation related to testing.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred), ideally in computer science, informatics, software engineering, engineering technology, or similar.

• 8 years of relevant professional experience in software testing or related role.

• Experience with both manual and automated test methods, including Regression, Performance and End-to-end testing.

• Experience with software auto-testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Spectron, Cucumber, AVA, Robot Framework, Ranorex, Endtest, Ghost Inspector, or alternatives.

• Experience with Jira, Artifactory, Bamboo, CircleCI, Jenkins, Git, GitHub, BitBucket, GitKraken or comparable code management, continuous integration, project planning, documentation and repository tools.

• Familiarity with JavaScript, Node.js, React, or other technologies.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience working on an Agile Scrum team contributing to sprint planning, estimations and retrospectives.

• Experience with any Electron testing frameworks.

• Experience with testing cloud-based products.
