Position Summary:
This Molding Maintenance Leader is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the mold repair shop. Manage overtime when needed for the mold makers and mold maker apprentices. Lead the standup meetings and establish daily priorities for Mold Repair across all shifts. Manage cross training for all mold makers and mold maker apprentices. Drive to improve consistent repairs and monitor through right the first-time tracking. Lead to improve the overall cavity utilization across the plant. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Position is accountable to the Planned Maintenance Leader and Molding Manager to ensure injection molds are supported for emergency repairs.
Coach, plan, and direct work activities of associates assigned to Mold Repair.
Control and maintain Mold Repair department budget, overtime, and spending.
Plan and schedule work in Mold Repair operations in such a manner as to prevent downtime or loss of production capability.
Maintain workflow to outside machine shops, determines cost/benefit of performing work in-house or contracting out. SAP entries for work orders, material purchases.
Work with Mold Tooling Engineers and Reliability Engineers on improvement projects, and new product development projects, with capacity additions, and equipment repairs and assembly.
Provide feedback to Mold Tooling Engineers, Planned Maintenance Leader, and Reliability Engineers for design changes and material selection to reduce cost and improve reliability of injection molds
Work with Mold Tooling Engineers and outside mold vendors on mold design development, ordering new molds, and providing technical support on injection molds
Provide metrics and analysis of injection mold performance and maintenance records keeping injection molds in the proper state of repair.
Assure inventory of raw materials, spare parts, and general supplies is maintained at a sufficient level to not negatively affect the operation of the plant
Ensure PM compliance
Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Supervision:
This position supervises 10-12 JG2 associates
Education:
High school diploma/GED required.
Associate’s degree in relevant field required.
Experience:
Five years mold repair experience required.
Five years machining experience required.
