The Inventory Manager is a leader with the ability to assess the needs of a distribution center and take clear process driven and clearly documented actions to improve them. This individual will communicate and work with the corporate inventory teams and key distribution or at other sites, if need be, will provide daily leadership to implement and enforce inventory control systems and processes. This will also work to improve employee performance via a SMART driven process. The Inventory Manager must be an excellent process oriented individual, a communicator, analyzer, Continuous improvement mindset leader capable of effective collaboration and delegation, as well as having strong a jump in and get it done mentality when needed.
This individual is responsible for tracking and maintaining SOX compliant inventory levels and practices aligned with BD Corporate inventory turn levels. This manager will maintain tracking of warehouse utilization, recommend slotting opportunities to improve efficiencies. This leader must have the ability to apply and lead inventory improvement tracking projects as well as warehouse utilization efficiency projects.
The Manager must have a solid understanding of Supply Chain processes and can quickly apply industry proven best practices in a complex supply chain that is customer focused.

Ensure that the sites (Distribution within the North American Distribution network) understand and execute the operational inventory strategy that drives profitable growth delivering exceptional service to our customers
Effectively communicate with your team and ensure alignment and accountability amongst and between your sites and corporate.
Create and manage internal processes that support excellent customer service outcomes.
Effectively manage and deliver to inventory control/reduction targets provided.
Must possess ability to recruit, develop, coach and mentor employees within high functioning teams.
Ability to turn strategy into executable, operational actions and achieve desired KPI results.
Expert knowledge of distribution operations, including order fulfillment, inventory control, shipping and receiving.
Development and implementation of inventory analysis tools and metrics that will optimize service, cost, and inventory levels.
Lead and manage the daily operations of the domestic inventory management team.
In conjunction with the business units will manage and maintain inventory levels to balance customer service expectations with total cost to serve objectives.
Lead/participate in cross functional teams focused on optimizing/reducing key inventory levels throughout the supply network while meeting/exceeding customer service expectations.
Partner with the manufacturing plants and other supply chain organizations to facilitate or implement cost reductions and supply chain efficiencies as it relates to inventory management.
Communicate with management teams to direct and confirm execution of company processes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years’ Inventory Management experience or equivalent experience of 10 years management plus 10 years’ Inventory Management.
Solution-oriented team player who can lead a team and working collaboratively across multiple businesses, regions, and functions at all levels of business from the ground floor to the Boardroom.
Creating High Performance Work Culture targets (KPI’s) that optimize engineered standards and systems while leading Distribution improvement projects for multiple locations.
Working knowledge of ISO- 13485, Lean Six-Sigma principles, and project applications to include Smart-Sheets, MS Project, MS Visio and Auto Cad.
Microsoft Office proficient and demonstrate organization and communication skills, written and oral. MS Power Point proficiency required.
The ability to effectively partner, collaborate with, and influence others.
Communication and listening skills to be able to effectively gather and represent the voice of DC operations leaders and to understand and communicate back to DC operations leaders the positions of other stakeholders.
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize to work on and meet the deadlines of multiple initiatives at the same time.
Drive for results to ensure execution of project plans by self and through others.
The ability to deal with ambiguity and demonstrate flexibility with changing priorities and direction.
Critical thinking. The ability to see the big picture and understand the implications (financial, emotional, etc.) of proposals to all stakeholders.
Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Strong ability to facilitate and prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines; able to balance short-term, urgent needs with long-term strategic initiatives
Excellent leadership, people management, communication and influencing skills at a senior level
Strong business acuity with solid knowledge of finance, supply chain distribution and employee management.
Diligent and proactive results-driven personality.
Ability to coordinate, plan, manage, delegate, and oversee many aspects of the inventory function for optimum productivity achievement.
Excellent reconciliation, problem resolution and conflict management skills.
Must have strong analytical and interpersonal skills, including the capability to work across multiple functions.
APICS, CPDW certification preferred
