The Associate Director of BI Activation & Solution Support will have overall accountability for the acceptance, governance, demand management, resource management and performance of BD-TGS Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing (DW) applications for all business functions and geographies. This individual will be responsible for defining, establishing, and managing solution support processes, staff, contractors, and budget. This role will have direct responsibility for measuring and reporting the efficacy of the support function, and will interact with senior management in both communicating functional performance, prioritizing solution enhancements, as well as informing management of ongoing issues or issue resolution. In addition, the senior role will be an active member of the TGS BI Platform Solutions leadership team, adding insights, recommendations, and opinions as they relate the functioning and strategic direction of the BI Platform Solutions. Finally, the position will have a significant people management component, requiring excellent team management and people development skills, including virtual team management (i.e., pan-geography), vendor management, and a proactive, energetic style.

Description

The Associate Director of BI Activation & Solution Support will have overall accountability for the acceptance, governance, demand management, resource management and performance of BD-TGS Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing (DW) applications for all business functions and geographies. This individual will be responsible for defining, establishing, and managing solution support processes, staff, contractors, and budget. This role will have direct responsibility for measuring and reporting the efficacy of the support function, and will interact with senior management in both communicating functional performance, prioritizing solution enhancements, as well as informing management of ongoing issues or issue resolution. In addition, the senior role will be an active member of the TGS BI Platform Solutions leadership team, adding insights, recommendations, and opinions as they relate the functioning and strategic direction of the BI Platform Solutions. Job Function

Financial Management

  • Provide financial forecasts and estimates to deliver agreed upon enhancements and support levels

  • Plan and allocate staff and contractor resources in a manner optimized to deliver upon agreed SLAs and enhancement commitments

  • Manage vendor resources within the scope of their contractual commitments

Solution Management

  • Partner with the solution owners and super users globally to continually maintain the relevance and value of BD-TGS’s BI applications

  • Identify and manage solution support issues with our vendor partners, our business partners, our platform solutions peers, and/or project teams

  • Recognize risks/issues that require escalation and arrange for appropriate assistance

  • Collect and communicate/report solution support performance in terms of usership, business value, technical performance, and enhancement throughput and enhancement estimate accuracy

  • Ensure adherence to BD-TGS policy and processes, including architectural reviews (TRB), enhancement reviews (IRB), and Portfolio reviews as dictated by the TGS governance process

  • Lead periodic demand prioritization sessions with TGS and business stakeholders

  • Identify long term data and information needs resulting from incremental solution enhancement requests

People Development

  • Oversee the ongoing career development of direct reports, including routine coaching and feedback, formal talent planning, and periodic reviews

Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with key solution owners in the business partners to identify solution enhancement needs and opportunities for improved solution value

  • Continuously seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen internal client relationships

  • Interact, collaborate and negotiate with project teams, TGS colleagues and business line contacts to integrate activities and meet delivery expectations

  • Provide input to supervisors of indirectly managed project personnel

  • Strong ability to manage and work with a culturally diverse population (off-shore vendor teams, as well as business stakeholders across the globe)

Vendor Management

  • Manage external vendor partner relationships within the context of the Business Activation & Solution Support function

  • Monitor and ensure vendor performance to agreed upon services, deliverables, and cost

Knowledge Management

  • Monitor and develop knowledge artifacts that contribute to the ongoing improvement in support efficiency and efficacy (e.g., solution documentation, run books, training materials, ticket logs, etc.)

  • Accountability for the establishment and implementation of support standards and processes for BD-TGS BI solutions

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline), or equivalent work experience is required

  • Masters in Business, Engineering, or MIS is a plus

Experience

  • At least 10 years of experience in IT function or program management and/or execution

  • At least 7 years of experience in team management

  • At least 5 years of experience in budget creation, management and control

  • A combined 7 years of BI/DW experience, with an emphasis on solution support

Key Qualities and Skills

  • Proven track record of developing and sustaining BI solutions

  • Executive-level written and verbal presentation skills, with superior meeting facilitation capabilities

  • Ability to interact with and regularly engage senior solution owners and other project stakeholders to identify concerns, overcome resistance, gain buy-in, and act as a change agent

  • Ability to anticipate risks and issues, escalating to senior management when appropriate, and facilitating decision-making to balance business needs versus technical constraints

  • Strong financial management and analytical skills

  • Strong process orientation with significant attention to detail

  • Effective interpersonal skills with ability to participate in and lead "Virtual" teams

  • Knowledge of relational databases, data warehousing, business intelligence and reporting tools is essential

  • Knowledge of project management and collaboration tools (i.e., Microsoft Project, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Sharepoint, etc.), as well as incident/ticketing tools (i.e., Service Now, etc.)

  • Experience with on-prem and cloud platforms. Knowledge on ETL and data analytics tools.
