Associate Director, User Experience Design (Remote or Hybrid Work)
Job Description SummaryAs Associate Director of User Experience Design, you will be UX leader and strategist for a complex digital healthcare product or group of products from early conception to commercial launch. You will design digital products for next generation Medication Safety and Vascular Access Management Solutions, which in most cases will include a differentiated and innovative connected medical device.

We have an exciting open position for a UX leader to shape first to the world products, as part of the New Ventures Team in Medication Delivery Solution (MDS) Business Unit. New Ventures is chartered with developing Digital Solutions and Connected Care products in Medication Delivery and Safety, across clinical care settings including Operating room,ICU, Med-Surg wards and at home. Some example products are IntelliportTMand digital Vascular access management tools for simplifying clinical workflows, demonstrating data, and providing practical insight to improve patient outcomes.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced UX design leader, a steadfast advocate for the user anda system-level problem solver, who is excited to build delightfully simple, engaging, and innovative user experiences for sophisticated workflows involving clinicians, patients, providers, and payors.You will be working in the larger BDMDS UX team and cross-functional product teams including Product Managers, Hardware and Software engineers, System Engineers, and Clinical specialists. UX Design for our products requires a high degree of creativity, flexibility, and deep collaboration.
Own UX strategy and execution of all UX functions for the product/solution through early concept phase to commercial launch.
Own product discovery to understand clinicians and patient needs, the clinical environments, the user journey and solution opportunities
Own prototyping, design iterations, usability studies and clinical usability validation
Own UX staffing plan for the product. Build, onboard and leada diverse team of dedicated UX team members, including a deep bench of consultants and contractors.
Engage, onboard, and collaborate closely with industry experts in UX
Prioritize resources and scope the work based on business needs and timelines.
Partner withProduct and Engineering leadership to create product and UX directions and roadmaps.
Navigate through complex and ambiguous situations and drive towards clarity and focus.
Collaborate with the engineering team to creatively problem-solve unforeseen technical challenges and ensure quality of final implemented designs
Be an outstanding UX teamcitizen, participating in cross BD UX initiatives to foster a patient-centric product development approach.
BS or MS in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Science,Biomedical engineering, Industrial Design, System Engineeringor equivalent.
8+ years of experience delivering digital solutions focused on User Research, User Design or Human Factors, with strong track record of shipping successful solutions
4+ years of relevant UX Design experience in clinical hardware and/or software solutions. Experience with health/wellness products in consumer market may be considered in lieu of healthcare product experience
Understanding of regulatory standards and industry mentorship for healthcare solutions including IEC 62366-1, FDA Guidance for Human Factors (2016), IEC 62366-2, HE75, ISO 13485, FDA Guidance for Design Controls, & ISO 14971.
Experience selecting and leading contractors/consultants to meet tight deadlines.
Experience solving complex, ambiguous product problems.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
Self-motivated and able to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project milestones.
Ability to travel internationally as well as domestically (~25%)
3+ years' experience managing and leading a teamof user researchers, designers, and/or human factors engineers
Experience launching innovative/ first to the world products
Experience aligning user insights to business objectives and demonstrating impact of UX function to the organization.
Ability to communicate sophisticated concepts effectively across a broad range of audiences and galvanize different opinions around a shared objective.
Experience working on Agile/scrum teams.
Experience authoring or maintaining design systems.
Familiarity with behavioral science methodologies and experience applying them in design work.
