Communications Manager

Job Description Summary

The Communications Manager for BD-Canada is responsible to develop, implement and monitor results from the integrated marketing and communications plan to advance BD’s brand equity aligned to BD-Canada’s key growth initiatives. This individual will engage in prioritized corporate activities that support our purpose: to advance the world of health. With demonstrated competencies, the successful candidate will evolve and deploy public relations and communication strategies through digital channels, partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure key objectives are achieved.

As the communications subject matter expert for the Canadian team, this individual will develop, implement, monitor, and provide strategic guidance for cross functional communication efforts.

This role will:

  • Develop a comprehensive Public Relations plan for brand awareness, demand generation and market impact

  • Elevate the BD brand through social and digital channel expansion, while working with leadership to promote and elevate our customer experience

  • Develop, execute, and promote a Canada digital brand strategy, to include multi-channel marketing and communications strategies, to drive increased key customer engagement and influence a customer-first mindset

  • Elevate web presence and strategic business objectives focusing on the customer experience

  • Provide guidance and consultation to key stakeholders for public relations, and communications excellence

  • Manage and monitor communication budget to demonstrate value.

  • Adopt and leverage the global marketing vision and what it means for strategic marketing and communications, and align the global digital marketing goals to the Canada marketing vision

  • Align and implement global standards, policies and guidelines including those that impact legal regulations, agency management, brand integrity and security in the Canada

  • Drive education and training related to marketing communications, channels, platforms, and the adoption of digital marketing approaches, while seeking continuous improvement opportunities and value-based solutions

  • Ensure the needs and solutions across the BUs in the Canada are fully understood and connected to one cohesive master communications strategy, in sync with North American and global objectives with day-to-day operations of existing digital assets

  • Create a roadmap for the Canada website content, social media, and online advertising campaigns that will increase engagement with top customers

  • Create, maintain, and implement a communications and digital marketing calendar

  • Create and manage a repository of digital, content

  • Evolve associate experience with timely and relevant content aligned focused areas of growth

  • Develop multi-channel feedback systems that capture insights regarding customer behaviours and trends

  • Provide insights by working closely with analytics leader, gathering qualitative and quantitative user feedback via multiple formats

  • Build trusted relationships within customer channels and to be seen as a communication partner

  • Develop and Manage communication strategies and engagement for in market objectives

  • Develop and Maintain Agency and third-party agreements and objectives.

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in marketing / marketing communications required; MBA or MS preferred

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant marketing / marketing communications experience, and 3+ years of relevant digital and social media marketing expertise in a complex commercial organization required.

  • Exceptional communication skills; develop and sustain close working relationships with key stakeholders. Ability to challenge and defend recommendations and the implications of them to all levels of the organization

  • Results oriented; ability to design digital solutions to address business questions and/or challenges; self-motivated and organized to successfully complete high-quality work projects on time; attentive to details

  • Experience establishing and leading in a complex, matrixed B2B / services ecosystem/environment strongly preferred.

  • Manage a high volume of projects simultaneously and maintain high quality deliverable in sometime ambiguous business environments

  • Ability to work across boundaries and partner with various stakeholders to build consensus and achieve business results

  • Intimate understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels

  • In depth knowledge of digital tactics including SEO, SEM, e-Commerce, programmatic advertising, social media and email marketing required.

  • Comprehensive understanding of digital ecosystems and how desktop, mobile, social, search and other online and offline channels work together in a consumer’s journey is preferred

  • Experience with marketing automation systems required such as Marketo, Showpad, Global Meet, Google Analytics

  • Financial acumen and experience with developing financial models to assess impact of digital strategies

  • Travel requirement varies between 20- 30% depending upon opportunity and complexity.

  • Bilingual French/English a big asset.

  • Healthcare experience is desired
