Job Description Summary:

This role is part of TGS Platform Solutions and Services organization and will consistently demonstrate customer focus, in a professional manner, as they deliver design, technical leadership, and validation throughout Oracle-CPQ implementations, enhancements to the existing instances. The O-CPQ Technical Architect will also support the integration of O-CPQ to business systems which support sales, contracting, marketing and commercial excellence processes. Technical Architects are expected to partake in the application design, alignment with BD architectural roadmap, best standards and practices of O-CPQ implementations.

The ideal candidate must have minimum 3-5 years of experience leading O-CPQ technical implementations. They will design and build technology solutions across customer sales quoting processes. They will help lead TGS’s business “customers” to success and support speed to value –BD’s ability to achieve positive ROI post implementation. The selected candidate will interface with business partners, enterprise architecture and technology teams and ensure solution delivery for the Sales and Commercial project portfolio.

The TGS O-CPQ Technical Architect will work with Enterprise Architecture, Business Partners, Platform Solutions & Engineering, and other TGS pillars on analysis, design, and delivery of high-quality technical solutions. The candidate needs to possess great communication and problem-solving skills and must have related experiences. A successful candidate will be able to work independently, be willing to learn about BD’s product portfolio, be self-motivated, innovative, share ideas, prioritize work effectively, be well organized, detail oriented, able to work with cross-functional teams, and quickly adapt to change.

  • Design, architect, assist in build, test & support platform enhancements and system changes while applying critical thinking in collaboration with our strategic system integrators across Oracle CPQ platform.  Focus mainly on Design and Architect.

  • Collaborate with Business Partner teams, Platform Solutions analysts, Development teams to determine the optimal Design for new or existing O-CPQ Solution based on the Business Requirements and ensure alignment to our BD Standards, supports future expansion, with 80% reusability and 20% custom

  • Lead and participate in solution design discussions with TGS strategic system integrators to deliver solutions that scale across businesses and regions  

  • Provide technical support to develop integrated solutions across cross functional business processes, applications, and platforms

  • Lead solution architecture and prototype technical solutions using a consultative approach with our customers

  • Improve delivery quality through improved processes including demand shaping, adequate estimates, design best practices, unit testing, regression testing and on-time delivery of projects

  • Facilitate & collaborate platform team and with global vendor(s) support teams to ensure break-fix issues are resolved in a timely manner

  • Perform review of break fix issues & identify permanent resolutions thru software fix or business process change

Qualifications

  • Proven functional/technical professional with full lifecycle Oracle CPQ implementation experience and at least 3 years of technical experience working with Oracle CPQ.

  • Proven experience with implementation of Oracle CPQ best practices and implementation of out of the box features.

  • Proven experience with Oracle CPQ release updates

  • Proven experience with Salesforce.com and integrating Oracle CPQ with Salesforce.com.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to translate business process and URS into functional requirements and solution design.

  • One or more Oracle CPQ Certifications (Big Machines Blue Belt preferred, Yellow Belt accepted with adequate experience)

  • Ability to influence others across various levels in the organization, work independently, and manage through ambiguity.

  • Work across multiple time-zones.

  • Ability to effectively balance and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.

  • Experience with waterfall and agile project management methodologies.

Preferred

  • Experience with other quoting tools such as Conga CPQ, Salesforce CPQ etc.

  • Experience integrating Oracle CPQ with Vendavo (Price Management)

  • Experience integrating Oracle CPQ with backend ERP solutions

  • Experience working in a large matrixed and FDA regulated corporation.

Primary duties may include but not be limited to:

  • Architect and design solutions on the Oracle CPQ platform and establish metrics for success

  • Support the review of new O-CPQ Functionality/Features and define plan to implement those that add value

  • Define and articulate instance/org strategy across up to 10 business units

  • Perform gap analysis between Oracle CPQ capabilities and client requirements.

Secondary duties may include but not be limited to:

  • Lead development teams to deliver full lifecycle Oracle CPQ implementations from inception to roll-out.

  • Review and triage of business demand, and creation of business cases.

  • Troubleshoot and problem solve technical production issues.

  • Write comprehensive design specifications (functional specifications and solution/technical design document), functional unit test, and user acceptance tests.

  • Manage projects for application development to meet business needs and best practices

  • Assist in developing data movement strategies and implementing data cleansing/data quality tools
