The Receiving/Inspection Metrology department is looking for individuals who have proven measurement skills using coordinate measurement methods, common gauges and measurement instruments, and the ability to plan, develop, and validate measurement methods/equipment. Candidate should have the ability to develop measurement methods based on mechanical drawings and 3D models and can solve complex problems to meet project deadlines. The position provides Quality support and ensures compliance with FDA/ISO regulations. A solid understanding of GD&T is required. Additionally, CAD experience, fixture design experience, test method validation (TMV) experience, and experience in an FDA regulated medical device Quality System is desired.
Duties & Responsibilities
Planning, overseeing and/or performing measurements as well as producing measurement reports.
Develop and execute IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and reports for validation of measurement equipment.
Develop and validate measurement methods (MSA/TMV) based on mechanical drawings / 3D models.
Interpret mechanical drawings using GD&T principles
Conduct training for technicians on measurement techniques & equipment.
Performs complex and detailed measurements, including feature alignments and positional error calculations based on Datum structures and drawing / model requirements.
Maintains equipment and ensures equipment is functioning as required.
Provide engineering support to the Receiving Inspection Team
Support maintenance & upgrading of Metrology Lab, and continuous improvement on measurement & testing capabilities.
Works in cross-functional teams as a Quality/Metrology representative to drive to project completion and achieve business unit goals.
Contribute effectively in team meetings and activities to meet overall organization’s objectives & performance indicators.
Investigate and resolve equipment nonconformances
Serves as the technical expert to Receiving Inspection
Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Solid understanding of GD&T required.
Experience with Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) methods and programming.
Experience with working with CAD models using Solidworks (or similar programs).
Experience with CT/X-ray Scanner programming is a big plus
Experience with working in FDA/ISO Quality Management Systems.
Self-driven with little to no supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills; clear technical communications with teammates, self-motivated and very responsible
Customer focused, ability to drive for results.
Education and Experience
Successful candidates will have an educational background in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science engineering, or similar fields.
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree with more than 5-years’ experience or master’s degree with minimum 3-years’ experience.
ASQ Certification (CQE, CQI, etc.) is a bonus.
