Responsibilities under direction of the EHS Manager
Serves as liaison between floor associates and management; primary point of contact for production associates to address EHS issues and concerns
Support the tactical and technical execution of the EHS strategy to achieve goals and objectives as advised by EHS Manager
Coordinates the day-to-day implementation of the site safety, environmental, and industrial hygiene policies and procedures
Assure compliance and contractor compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, etc.)
Develops, leads, coordinates, and conducts periodic EHS audits / assessments to evaluate compliance to regulations and facility safety policies & procedures. Documents assessment findings, assists in management in resolving discrepancies and developing corrective/preventative actions
Coordinates and performs ergonomic evaluations and assists in implementation of process improvements
Participates with teams to design new and existing processes with hazard minimization and waste reduction as primary objective
Updates and maintains action items within Safety and Environmental Professional database
Responsible for development of safety training materials. Delivers training content as necessary and requested
Performs risk assessments and process evaluations to determine the need for engineering controls and/or administrative controls. Coordinates and tracks implementation of process controls as related to safety/environmental issues
Drive pollution prevention and sustainability programs
Develops, leads, and maintains plant safety committees and safety teams
Lead incident investigation team, evaluate risks and incidents, and identify areas where costs and loss experience can be improved.
Manage worker’s compensation claims and coordinate employee health activities
Coordinate waste audits and inspections and shipment of regulated waste
Monitor compliance with wastewater permits including coordinating wastewater sampling and data tracking
Track metrics, prepare and submit monthly reports. Prepare plant communications including EHS awareness topics, trends, and issues
Responsible for collecting, preparing and transferring chemicals and other hazardous materials.
Review materials used by manufacturing operations and maintain Safety Data Sheet database
Evaluation and implementation of Personal Protective Equipment
Perform Job Safety Analysis and risk assessments
Aid in the timely preparation of required reports to regulatory agencies as requested
Develop and implement procedures/SOPs to reduce safety/environmental risks and to address emergency situations
Develop and provide EHS related training programs on various EHS topics including Lab Safety, Respirator Program, PPE. Hearing Conservation, First Aid/CPR, LOTO, Chemical Hygiene, and Hazardous Communication
Maintain Sustainability Report and records
Collaborate with management to further the objectives of health and safety programs
Facilitate and manage employee-based Safety Committee
Coordinate EHS training matrix
Coordinate and develop training & drills for Emergency Evacuation requirements
Serve an active role in the incident investigation process and root cause analysis
Continuing education to stay current on the best EHS practices, regulations, and industry trends
Motivated and ambitious self-starter with ability to complete tasks and projects without constant or direct supervision
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment for long periods of time while wearing PPE such as earplugs, safety glasses, and other required PPE. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift objects up to 35 lbs.
Minimum of 1- 2 years of experience in a manufacturingand/or laboratory setting.
• Familiar with EHS programs and knowledge of regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and other similar agencies
Familiarity with ISO14001:2015 and ISO45001:2018.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in fields related to environmental and occupational health and safety, environmental science, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, public health, or similar field
Willingness and ability to continue education to achieve professional certifications (ASP, CSP, CHMM, OHST, etc.)
Knowledge of OSHA Injury record keeping requirements
Computer literate on PC and proficiency related software (i.e., Microsoft 365, SAP, Web-based Platforms) to develop reports, procedures, training materials, etc.
Effective analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
Engaging presentation and meeting skills.
Effective leadership, project management, and goal setting skills.
Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills with the site’s continuous improvement goal.
