Description:

Under direct supervision and guidance, this co-op will provide an opportunity to be exposed to the medical device field and offer hands on experience working within the Packaging Engineering group in an Engineering capacity. As a co-op in the Packaging Engineering department, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers supporting R&D programs and critical sustaining manufacturing projects. This individual would be responsible for generating and revising engineering documentation including component specifications, manufacturing procedures bills of materials, and end item specifications.  The candidate will also be responsible, with the assistance of the Packaging Engineer for writing test protocols and/or justifications supporting packaging changes.

Duties Include:

  • Undertakes and successfully completes basic packaging project tasks including any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, generating Change Requests, testing processes, equipment, on-going training, designs and coordinates engineering tests and experiments.

  • Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community.

  • Identifies areas for improvement, suggests solutions and submits idea records.

  • Special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • In order to be eligible for a R&D Co-op position, the candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college/institution and be in good academic standing pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.  
  • Only students in their sophomore year or above will be considered.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required (or 4.0 for those enrolled in programs with a 5.0 scale). 
  • The student must be available to work during session indicated and have demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities.
  • This is fixed term position, and the time frame will be communicated but likely for a 6-month period beginning in the summer/fall of 2025. Candidates must be flexible with the time frames.

* This position is located in Warwick, RI and student will be required to provide his/her own transportation.
