Position Summary
The Sr Director BD Excellence Commercial Marketing & Sales will be responsible to drive the adoption and execution of the BD Excellence vision and strategy across the central Marketing & Strategic Sales organization.
This position is a key partner in our journey to BD Excellence, acting as reference and advisor to the SVP Strategic Sales Institute and Chief Marketing Officer and will support the leadership team in managing the Continuous Improvement process, with emphasis on visual management, problem solving and kaizen and will assist in deploying of strategic plans, ensuring alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) top-down and bottom-up. This position is responsible for delivering and coaching BD Excellence across the central Marketing organization.

Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities will include:
BD Excellence Strategy Development and Deployment:
Lead the development and alignment of the BD Excellence vision and strategy in central Marketing & Sales organization to support structured growth and innovation across various business and functional areas, with a primary focus on the deployment of the BD Excellence commercial tools and processes that will drive best-in-class sales effectiveness.
In close alignment with the Central BD Excellence team, support the deployment of the BD Excellence commercial toolbox and standardized methodologies to drive results and deliver increased sales effectiveness and tool adoption.
Support the SVP, Chief Marketing Officer and the leadership team in deploying of strategic plans, ensuring alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) top-down and bottom-up.
Partner with Central BD Excellence team in the development of commercial tools and processes that will drive best in class Salesforce CRM utilization and best practice adoption across the Marketing organization.
Deploy and embed tools within SFDC that enable a holistic view of our customers across BU’s and product lines.
Own the deployment of BD Excellence tools and the roll out of standardized methodologies to drive marketing effectiveness.
Cascade the BD Excellence commercial toolbox, utilizing digital training tools, certification programs, and an apprenticeship mindset to embed BD Excellence into BD’s culture.
Utilize best-in-class tools (Kaizen, VM/DM, Problem Solving, Funnel Mgmt., Win Rooms) to drive results.
Explore external market capabilities and technologies to support BDX Continuous Improvement strategy, promoting innovation across the commercial organization and acting as a change agent for strategic technological shifts.
Establish certified practitioners in the central marketing and strategic sales organization for commercial excellence tools, including Funnel Management, Growth Rooms, Problem Solving, and Kaizen.
Drive problem-solving using a Toyota-based approach to create Pareto charts and develop actions to address key issues (80/20 rule).
Refine and standardize SFDC usage with the global Marketing organization, including funnel management, opportunity entry, workflow, and dashboards.
Use bowlers, key performance indicators, and action plans to drive prioritization and rigor based on clear metrics
Support the SVP, Chief Marketing Officer and the Leadership Team in driving key initiatives through BD Excellence.
Develop and facilitate continuous improvement (Kaizen) events to achieve and sustain improvement results.
Partner with the central BD Excellence team facilitate best-practice sharing, driving efficiency and impact in the strong execution of BD Excellence tools and processes.
Leading Change through BD Excellence initiatives:
Drive BD Excellence programs and initiatives to achieve long-term continuous improvement objectives.
Be a change champion in the deployment of BD Excellence in Central Marketing & Strategic Sales organization and in the tools and mindset across the Central Marketing and Strategic Sales functions.
Challenge existing paradigms, encourage and promote internal and external best practice.
Drive collaboration to accept new ideas and achieve sustainable business improvements.
Lead digitalization and innovation efforts at organization level to improve the business and operation excellence and customer experience.
Organize the annual process to identify opportunities and lead team to develop goals and action plan.
Cultivate BD Excellence Culture and Capability Development:
Develop and grow capability through the Central Marketing organization to establish the fundamentals of excellence from all aspects of the BD Way of Marketing, in close collaboration with the Snr Director Commercial BD Excellence.
Equip the Central Marketing & Sales Leadership Team with BD Excellence concepts and knowledge, focusing on external and internal benchmarking.
Be an expert (can teach and execute) in the BD Excellence fundamentals of Visual Management (VM)/ Daily Management (DM), Problem Solving Process (PSP), Kaizen and Funnel Management.
Drive culture of continuous improvement by encouraging associates to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements. Foster an environment where associates feel valued and empowered to give feedback and make change.
Use methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to structure these efforts
Design and implement programs or initiatives to raise the awareness, adopt CI methodologies, and enhance capabilities of BD Excellence.
Education
University bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or a related field is required.
MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.
Experiences
Ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience in Sales and Marketing Leadership roles.
Five (5)+ years of Marketing Experience with a proven track record of driving processes to achieve results, ideally with experience in upstream and downstream marketing roles within B2C and B2B organizations.
Preferably five (5) years relevant experience in the medical devices, clinical diagnostics and capital equipment markets.
BS degree required
Advanced knowledge of Process and Lean techniques in a commercial setting.
Extensive experience with Marketing automation tools (Marketo, Eloqua, Pardot), experience working with sales tools including Salesforce.com (funnel management, dashboards).
Experience using tools like Power BI, Einstein, etc., to visualize data.
Significant experience in Problem Solving, Visual Management, Kaizen, and KPI development.
Proven ability to drive results in a matrix organization where collaboration across functions and regions is essential and to hold all team members responsible for outcomes.
Highly analytical, with a deep understanding and love of data
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive new programs and initiatives with limited direction.
Proven track record of Learning Agility, taking on new projects and roles and demonstrating success within an accelerated timeframe.
Excellent facilitation & communication skills both in person and virtually across all levels of the organization including senior leadership.
Positive attitude and ability to work closely with entire leadership team to drive change, continuous improvement, and engagement throughout the organization.
Excellent project management skills and ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and deadlines
True love of continuous improvement, measuring results, and problem solving Demonstrated success in driving business impact through CI and Kaizen initiatives, particularly in a commercial organization and under fast-changing environment.
