The Mold Mechanic Technician I will exhibit exemplary BD Core Values and isresponsible for set up and operation of molding machines and tools in accordance with
standard procedures. Maintaining an acceptable level of production, quality, and
housekeeping in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices. Performing all
necessary maintenance and repairs on all machines and equipment in the Molding
Department.

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
- Make repair and rebuild components on molding presses and all related auxiliary equipment and guarantee that all are in acceptable running condition.
- Set up and monitor the processes of molding presses and all auxiliary equipment to ensure acceptable efficiencies and quality levels of the parts being produced.
- Make required repairs to equipment and assist mold repair and/or Engineering with repairs to machines and molds when necessary.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or failures.
- Perform and record preventive maintenance on molding presses and all related auxiliary equipment.
- Monitor Molding Technicians preventative maintenance tasks and records.
- Assist with training programs for new employees and monitor for safe working habits.
- Observe all safety standards, regulations and job safety analysis.
- Assist with supervision of molding personnel in absence of Sr. Mold Tech.
- Work with limited Supervision.
- Actively promote teamwork and cooperation among molding personnel.
- Actively participate in any applicable cross-functional teams dealing with issues relevant to the areas of individual’s expertise.
- Personally train and involve Mold Technicians with mechanical repairs to all presses and auxiliary equipment in department.
- Advises Parts Crib Attendant of parts needed for immediate use or for stocking locations.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Other responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Complies with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures.
- Complies with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
- Observes all safety, environmental and quality system standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical Training, education or experience within a molding operation preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of general maintenance practices, plastic materials and injection molding process.
- Understanding of hydraulic and electric circuits as applied to injection molding machines.
- Ability to diagnose causes of equipment malfunctions.
- Must be able to coordinate tasks among work group in absence of Sr. Technician and have good record keeping abilities.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
