Materials Planner Buyer
Job Description Summary
The position is accountable for ensuring material availability, and the achievement of business value. The position works in a team environment to manage tactical procurement activities with a broad supply base. The position interfaces with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Sourcing Teams on materials issues and strategies. The Materials Planner Buyer’s output should guarantee that the flow of materials is efficient considering the plants warehouse capacity and inventory targets to eliminate potential disruptions in the storage area, minimize both storage costs and material waste.Job Description

Responsibilities:
Leads and develops work processes that integrate production requirements into materials plans through MRP recommendations
Plan and procure all manufacturing components to meet the production schedule while adhering to the established inventory goals.
Coordinate and publish reports as follow: Inventory Levels and Forecasts; PPV (Purchase Price Variance) Actuals and Forecast; Supplier Scorecards; Cost to Win or other Cost Improvement Projects.
Responsible for the scheduling of materials by converting the MRP Recommendations of the Detailed Schedule into daily / weekly material requirements to ensure availability of the right quantity of components to the production lines when needed.
Accountable of issuing and confirming order acknowledgement with designated supplier within agreed lead time.
Responsible of timely managing Blocked invoices so they are paid within agreed payment terms.
Conduct MRO purchases and contracts based on site requests
Reviews MRP and/or manual requisitions consistently on a weekly basis
Drive improvement for supplier performance metrics, specifically Supplier OTIF
Investigates and recommends implementation of appropriate advanced materials strategies such as Point of Use, Kanban, VMI, etc.
Assures master data in ERP and/or ordering systems is always correct.
Generates material orders for intercompany and external suppliers to support MRP output and plant purchase requisition requirements.
Acquires and provides current material status to Production Control/Manufacturing Teams on an as needed basis.
Generates Engineering Change Requests and establishes effective dates.
Develops Requests for Engineering Evaluation and Engineering Deviation Authorization documentation as required to achieve Materials and Quality objectives.
Dispositions and/or ensures return of defective material to suppliers
Complies with ISO, FDA, BD policies and procedure requirements related to purchasing requirements and control.
Promotes a safe work environment. Provides recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Follow safety procedures.
Participates in Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) programs initiates corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified.
Provide recommendations to support systems that continuously improve product/process quality and product availability, reduce cost, and increase production capability.
Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
SAP or other ERP system planning/procurement knowledge
Strong cross-functional relationship development and ability to influence
Basic knowledge of processes associated with the production items to be supported.
Understands basic manufacturing and quality concepts.
Basic knowledge of the master data elements and function within ERP system
Microsoft Office proficiency
Application of basic statistics
Excellent written and oral communications skills (English/Spanish)
Demonstrates initiative and lateral thinking to problems solve
Must have a sense of urgency. Strong decision-making and communication skills
ISM and/or APICS Certification desired.
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Willing to travel to US mainland and offshore upon request
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires as a minimum a bachelor’s degree.
