Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Director Global Trade, this position is responsible for facilitating compliant US export transactions. The Manager, Global Trade Export Operations leads a team of Global Trade Export Operations analysts in the US that are responsible for SAP GTS export shipment support and manual export reviews. This position applies sophisticated systems knowledge to handle associate activities in solving export shipment issues in connection with $5.1 billion in annual US exports.
Responsibilities
- Develops, handles and trains US Global Trade Export operations team to meet operational objectives.
- Responsible for EEI filing accuracy, including analyzing freight forwarder reports and updating data reported in GTS and responding to Census reports.
- Connect with internal and external collaborators, including business units, plants, government agencies and logistics providers on export regulations and BD export processes and procedures.
- Supervise new and sophisticated export regulations and sanctions and assess their impact on BDX. Resolve actions required to ensure compliance and connect with internal customers.
- Develop and implement strategy for exports outside an ERP system, including leading team responsible for manual export invoice reviews and approvals.
- Provide guidance and training to functions involved in export activities including business units, supply chain, transportation, logistics, procurement, engineering, R&D, sales.
- As a GTS Superuser, lead the development, design, and implementation of global trade programs within ERP systems, including SAP GTS, to enhance BD’s automated export capabilities.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures that optimize compliant export operations and support Global Supply Chain initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of Global Trade’s organizational strategies, priorities and critical initiatives.
- Responsible for integrating export activities of acquired companies into Global Trade framework, following established export policies and procedures. Conduct risk assessments and evaluate export processes of acquired companies.
- Responsible for supporting export-related, Transition Service Agreement activities for relevant divestitures.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years experience of increasing responsibility in Global Trade, preferably in med-tech industry.
- Minimum 1-3 years in a management capacity, leading and developing direct reports in a complex and dynamic med-tech organization.
- In depth knowledge of US Export Administration regulations and export commodity control classifications.
- Experience leading the development, implementation and execution of trade strategies and IT solutions that deliver duty savings and supply chain efficiencies.
- Extensive experience of interacting with IT to ensure ERP transactions align with the needs of business.
- Experience in understanding EDI language to troubleshoot EDI issues.
- Experience handling UAT (User Acceptance Test) to ensure new system applications release efficiently.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Information Science, or other related field or equivalent.
Certifications
- Licensed US Customs Broker
