Operator/Technician- B Shift

Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for general set up, operation, optimization, changeover/troubleshoot and maintain assigned department equipment.  Responsible for meeting/exceeding production standards, maintaining product quality, minimizing/preventing equipment downtime and sustaining budgeted waste levels every day.

B Shift- 6:30pm- 6:30am- 13.5% Shift Differential

Responsibilities

Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Works with management to identify and eliminate safety hazards.

  • Has detailed operational knowledge of the equipment to the point that the Associate can operate within specified quality/quantity limits.

  • Set up, operate and trouble shoot equipment. 

  • Maintain equipment to produce product to meet BD’s Quality Standards. 

  • Repair equipment within Associate’s capability and follow department escalation plan.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as specified in the plant preventative maintenance (PM) program.

  • Responsible for recording preventative maintenance, planned and breakdown activities in SAP.

  • Must have mechanical ability and knowledge of proper use of tools, proper troubleshooting and set up procedures.

  • Assist with radiation emergencies when and if they occur.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

  • Work with limited supervision and perform duties in a prompt and professional manner.

  • Attend training and meetings as required.

  • General housekeeping and clean up of work area / safety awareness.

  • Sustain a productive work environment through effective communication with team members.

  • Obey all company policies, standards and rules, including but not limited to: Safety policies and rules (including lockout procedures); Quality policies and rules

  • Must maintain regular, punctual attendance.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required

  • Vocational/technical school, preferred.

  • Manufacturing experience, preferred.

Experience:

  • Manufacturing experience preferred but not required

  • Forklift – Must be able to obtain License within 3 months

  • Yard Truck Operation – Must be able to operate within a 3-month period.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Radiation certification – Must be able to acquire in 12 months

  • This job is contingent on clearing an FBI background check.  You will be required to provide fingerprints to be sent to the FBI.  The corporate security officer will determine if the background information will be acceptable for this position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Computer skills (SAP, Excel, Word preferred) - Basic

Physical Demands:  

  • PCP Level 3: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.

Work Environment (if applicable):

  • High speed manufacturing environment.  Must remain alert and focused.

  • No air-conditioning in parts of sterilization/warehouse area.

  • Radiation in close proximity.

  • May have intermittent exposure to chemicals;

  • Degree of exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, noise, vibration and chemicals.

  • When working outside, any & all physical elements of weather & temperature may be present. Inside, noise is the major distraction.

  • Safety glasses must be worn when in the warehouse

  • Some physical exertion, including lifting, may be required.

  • Safety toe shoes required
