Job Summary
Responsible for quality management of all phases of development, manufacturing, and testing of new and existing products to ensure compliance with established internal standards as well as external regulatory requirements.
Responsible for ensuring accurate completion of assigned tasks within budgeted hours. Participates in design control meetings and provides feedback regarding product quality. Assists in establishing quality systems and procedures necessary to achieve desired quality levels and cost targets. Works closely with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, technical service, and regulatory affairs on quality issues. This position has broad knowledge and skills gained through extensive education and work experience.
Quality Engineer Job Duties
Acts as a resource for less experienced Quality Control Inspectors/Sr. Inspectors, providing guidance and training as needed.
Reviews non-conformances identified by suppliers and manufacturing facilities; assesses impact on product quality; communicates findings and recommendations to appropriate personnel.
Develops test methods and sampling plans; designs experiments; collects data; analyzes results; prepares reports; presents findings and makes recommendations based on analysis of data.
Writes and interprets technical documents such as drawings, specifications, operating procedures, and Form 483 observations.
Plans and schedules own activities; sets priorities to meet deadlines and resolve problems; identifies and communicates risks affecting own work.
Leads cross functional teams as required; facilitates team effectiveness.
Participates in FDA (Food and Drug Administration) inspections; coordinates Notified Body audits; conducts internal audits as directed.
Supports product launches by working with production, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, technical service, and shipping/receiving to ensure successful transition from development to full scale manufacturing.
Conducts root cause investigations of product complaints and quality issues; initiates corrective actions; monitors implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field plus 5 years of design controls experience
Demonstrated leadership skills including ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work independently, and make effective presentations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
